The Garvin Foundation was started by the Pike Family. The we love animals. It all started simply by feeding the geese and ducks at the park. Then one day we saw a goose that had fishing line on it's foot. With the help of friends we captured it and cut the goose's foot free. What seemed like a one time rescue became a routine with them as we captured goose after goose that was in danger.
One day we saw a goose laying on the ground that couldn't get up. Thinking it was another fishing line problem we captured the goose only to find out it was much worse. After a trip to the vet we found out that the goose we lovingly named "Garvin" suffered from metal poisoning, a concussion, and severely bruised organs.
Numerous attempts were made to save young Garvin's life. But less than two weeks later we mourned the loss of our beloved Garvin. Garvin's loss hit home so badly that we decided to do something about it. We worked to form the Garvin Foundation. To educate, nourish, rescue, and protect our feathered friends. Garvin's loss will not be in vein. His loss will help other geese and ducks in our area stay happy and healthy.
We didn't form the Garvin Foundation to ask for money but we do appreciate any donations. A simple $7 donation will by a 50lb bag of cracked corn and feed the geese at Garvin Park for a meal. A donation of $75 covers one visit to the vet (before any tests). $200 pays for x-rays and/or medicine. $1,600 pays for another net gun to help us capture the injured animals safely.
Please note that we are still working on filing for non-profit status for the Garvin Foundation. So unfortunately at this time any donations made will not be tax deductible. We will keep you posted and let you know when we receive our non-profit status. Until then, we are taking donations through our personal paypal and GoFundMe accounts. We promise you that all funds you dontate are used only for the Garvin Foundation. You can also purchase a bag of bird seed or cracked corn and drop it off at Pike's Mattress.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
